Local artist Joanne MacDonald has
shown her work extensively in Calgary and
a number of her commissioned works can
be seen around the city.
Her dynamic welded metal forms utilize
found, natural and upcycled materials,
working both in response to and intuitively
with each in combination with each other.
Upcycled train ties become lyrical and
linear maquettes and polished steel orbs
provide a point of entry - a space to take in
the form and it’s balance in space. Many
of her works are also kinetic in nature and
will sway and lilt with human interaction.
